Crooked River Wines

Our vineyard is unique.

It was established in 1998 in rich volcanic, alluvial soil, in Gerringong, South Coast NSW, Australia- a valley between the mountains and the sea.

The commercial winery was completed in 2001 and now consists of 280,000 litres of stainless steel fermentation and storage tanks and 70,000 litres of oak barrels. In 2005-06, Crooked River produced 24 great wines and 4 ports-100,000 bottles of premium quality red and white wines. Our port is a specialty. In 2010 we have 40 different table wines. Home to famous Saddleback Mountain Red and Chocolate Pyjama Vino.

The reason why our wines taste so superb are due to the following factors:

Estate grown and produced, our wine is made in our modern winery, all grapes are grown and produced in our vineyard at Gerringong on the south coast of New South Wales. Grapes are in production in our winery within 30 minutes of being hand harvested.

A rich volcanic alluvial soil, unspoilt for millions of years producing great cedar forests up until 100 years ago.

The vineyard at Gerringong was previously a large dairy farm for over 100 years adding to the richness of the soil.

The vineyard is situated 3km form the Pacific ocean. The prevailing North East winds blow from the ocean between December and April resulting in perfect climatic conditions for ripening.

The fruit and juice is handled from the vineyard to the bottle in a very gentle way. During the process of making the wine a soft computer airbag press is used to take the juice from the grapes.

Crooked River Winery is located in Gerringong on the south coast of New South Wales, just 1.5 hours south of Sydney International Airport.

You will find us 400m south of the turn off to Gerringong along the Princes Highway (follow the signs). You need to take the turn off at Willow Vale Road and the Winery is located 75m from the Highway.

Within minutes drive of the Winery you can find Werri Beach, Seven Mile Beach, Minnamurra Rain Forest and many dairy farms scattered throughout the Illawarra.

The spectacular marine sanctuary of Jervis Bay is just a 35 minute drive south where you can jump on a cruise for a day of dolphin and whale watching - or why not take the kids to the Animal Wildlife Park in Nowra on the banks of the Shoalhaven River.
